Joyce Badgely-Hunsaker is an award-winning historical interpreter and storyteller. Her thoughtful and carefully researched programs have won her national acclaim as an actress and historian. For the past thirty years, she has presented her living histories from wilderness campfires to the halls of the U.S. Congress. She has performed with symphonies, in schools, universities, museums, on national television and radio, and with the NBA Portland Trailblazers. Most recently, she performed 'Sacagawea Speaks' by invitation at the 2002 Winter Olympics and the national kickoff of the Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Commemoration at Monticello in Virginia.

Her command performances include such distinguished audiences as ranking members of Congress, the Smithsonian Institution, the National Geographic Society, the Nature Conservancy, Disney, and Russian Educational Television. Ms. Hunsaker's living history dramas and her books are currently being used in Eastern Russia to teach American history and English.

Joyce Badgley Hunsaker's family bloodlines include Cherokee and Sioux, English, French, and Scots-Irish. Several tribes have honored her with ceremonial names. She is also a fourth-generation Oregon Trail pioneer descendant, and a fifth-generation California Trail pioneer descendant.

Her works about the American West - both performed and published - offer unique cultural insights into the people who made the history: from Sacagawea to the pioneers; from the Frontier of the past, to the West of today. For a sample, read her TIME magazine article about Sacagawea.
